Conjunction Definition: दो या दो से अधिक शब्दों अथवा वाक्यों को जोड़ने वाले शब्द को conjunction कहा जाता है।

And, Or, But, Rather

And - और

"And" conjunction का प्रयोग हम दो sentence (वाक्यों) या दो शब्दों को जोड़ने के लिए करते हैं। 

Example :

Ram and Shyam यहां दो शब्दों के बीच में conjunction (and) प्रयोग किया गया है। 

पंकज और रवि अच्छे दोस्त हैं।

Pankaj and Ravi are good friend. 

वो तुझे और मुझे मुंबई भेज रहा है ।

He is sending you and me to mumbai. 

Or - या 

Or का मतलब ' या ' होता है । दो में से कोई एक को बताने के लिए अथवा चुनने के लिए or का प्रयोग होता है। 

Example: 

आप ये किताब खरीद सकते हैं या (या फिर) वो किताब ।

You can buy this book or that book 

मैं आपको क्या हूँ। ये या वो ।

But लेकिन / पर/ परन्तु/

सिवाय=> Except ,(बल्कि ) =>Rather

But - पर/लेकिन/परन्तु 

Example:

राम और श्याम अच्छे दोस्त हैं पर वो एक दूसरे सेलड़ते हैं। Ram and shyams aru goad fruinde but they fight with each other.

वह बहुत समझदार है लेकिन उसके पास पैसे नहीं है। 

He is very intelligent but he doesn't have money. 

मैं तुम्हारे घर के अलावा कहीं भी जा सकता हैं। I can go anywhere but not home.

Except => सिवाय

Example:

मैं कुछ भी कर सकता हूं सिवाय तुम्हें पीटने के। 

I can do anything except beat you. 

वो चिकन के अलावा कुछ भी खा सकता है। He Can eat anything but not chicken. 

यह पैन नहीं बल्कि पैन्सिल है। 

This is not a pencit but a pencil.

This is not a pen rather a pencil.

 सांजय बेवकुफ नहीं बलक एक समझदार लड़का है। 

Sanjay is not an idiat but a sensible boy. 

Mather ने उसे डाँटा नहीं गया बल्कि पीटा गया | 

He was not scolded but beaten Mother.

For / As / Because /Since - क्योंकि  चूँकि

Rule :

'चूँकि ' का प्रयोग Sentence में हमेशा पहले होता है।

'क्योंकि ' का प्रयोग हमेशा Sentence के बीच में होता है 

Rule:

 "Since" is used only at the beginining of the sentence.

 "Because" is used only in the middle of the sentence, 

Always use Comma just before "For", it is used in the middle of the sentence. 

Example :

मैं नहीं आया क्यों कि मैं बिमार था

 I didn't Come because I was unwill.

I idn't come as I was unwell. 

I didn't Come, for I was unwell.

I didn't Come since I was unwell (wrong)

 चूँकि मैं बिमार था, मैं नहीं आया 

Since I was unwell, I didn't come.

 As I was unwell, I didn't come.

 Because I was unwell, I didn't come. (Wrong)

 Also / Even / Either/ Too / As well

 Rules:

 "Also" is generally not used in negative Sentence 

"Even", "Too"" and ""As well"" are used in both negative and positive Sentence. 

Either is always used in negative sentences. 

"Also' is used after the helping verb & before the main verb. 

"Too" Aswell" and ""Either" are used at the end 

"Even" is used at the begining of the sentences. 

"Even" is not used in iterrogative Sentences.

 मैं भी एक अच्छा इंसान हूँ।

 I am also a good person.

 Even I am a good person.

 I am a good person too. 

I am a good person as well.

 मैं भी एक अच्छा इंसान नहीं हूँ।

 Even I am not a good person

I am not a good person too.

 I am not a good person.

मैं भी फल पसंद नहीं करता।

Even I don't like fruits. 

I don't like fruits either. 

I don't like fruits too.

 I don't like fruits as well 

क्या तुम वहाँ नहीं थे। 

Where you not there either? 

where you not there too?

 where not there as well?.

Hence /that's why /therefore / So/ that's the reason (इसलिये)

Example :

मैं बिमार था, इसलिये मैं नहीं आया 

I was unwell, so I didn't come.

I was unwell, hence I didn't Come → 

I was unwell, that's why I didn't come.

 I was unwill, therefore I didn't come. 

I was unwell, that's the reason I didn't come.

As -> जैसा, के तौर पर, के नातें 

Example :

As you say. 

जैसी आपकी मर्जी 

 I did as you say.

मैं यहाँ मैनेजर के तौर पर काम कर रहा है। 

I am working here as a manager.

 एक टीचर होने के नाते, मेरा फर्ज हैं कि मैं अपने स्टूडेन्ट्स को सही इंग्लिश खिखाऊँ । 

As a teacher, it's my duty to teach correct English to my students.

 As soon as ⇒ जैसे ही / ज्यों ही the moment

Rules: 

we'll have to use "Present Indefinite Tense" with "as soon as" when we speak. about the future, we should not use will.

Example : 

जैसे ही मैं तुझे कॉल करूँ, तू निकल जाता। 

As soon as I call you, you The moment I call you, you leave

 जैसे ही वो आया, मैं चला गया। 

As soon as he came, I Left. 

The moment he came, I left.

 जैसे ही वो मुझे कॉल करे तू निकल जाना ।

As soon as he calls, you leave. 

The moment he calls you, you leave. 

जैसे ही वो आयेगा, मैं ऑफिस निकल जाऊँगा 

As soon as he comes, I will leave for the office. 

The moment he comes, I will leave for the effice.

 As well as > साथ ही साथ 

"Rule:

when two subjects are paired with "as well as "" the verb of the Sentence should be used as per the first subject.

Example :

रवि पढा लिखा है साथ ही साथ उसके माता पिता भी पढ़े लिखे 

Rani is educated as well as his parents also educated.

वो अच्छा फुटबॉल खेलता है साथ ही साथ वो क्लास में फर्स्ट आता है।

He plays footballs very he stands first in the class.

वो साथ ही साथ उसके तीन भाई अमेरिका जा रहे हैं। 

He as well as his three brother is going to America

 मैं साथ ही साथ मेरे दोस्त भी यहाँ है। 

I as well as my friends am here. 

As far as > जहाँ तक 

Example :

जहाँ तक मैं जानता हूँ उसके दो बच्चे हैं। 

As far as I know, he has two children. 

जहाँ तक मेरी पढ़ाई का सवाल है, मैं सिर्फ 12वीं पास हूँ। 

As far as my study is concerned, I am only 12th Pass. 

जहाँ तक मेरे परिवार का सवाल है, मम्मी पापा के अलावा मेरी दो बहने हैं। 

As for as my family is concernud apart from my mummy and pap I have two sisters.

As+ { adjective }+As +

As tall as Amit => उतना लम्बा जितना अमित/ अमित के जितना लम्बा

 As short as Rakesh => उतना छोटा जितना राकेश  /राकेश के जितना छोटा 

उतना बड़ा जितना तुम्हारा घर=> As big as your hour/ तुम्हारे घर के जितना बड़ा

As black as coal. उतना काला जितना कोयला 

Example  :

क्या तुम मेरे जितना अच्छा गा सकते हो

You are as clever as I am.

 Can you sing as good as I can? 

तुम मेरे जितना चालाक नहीं हो। 

क्या तुम उसके जितना अच्छा नहीं गा सकते 

You are no so clever as I am. 

Can't you sing as good as l.

Can't you sing so good as he can.

Although / thaugh / Even if / Even though -> यद्यपि, भले ही 

 Then also / Even then / Yet still However/Nevertheless> फिर भी, तब भी, इसके बावजूद भी 

भले ही से कभी स्कूल नहीं गया, फिर भी उसे सब आता है। 

Even if he never went to school then also he knows everything. 

हालांकि मेरे पास पैसे नहीं है, पर इसके बावजूद मैं तुम्हारी मदद करने की पूरी कोशिश करूँगा 

Although I don't have money, yet I will try to help you

 हालांकि ये मैने नहीं किया है, पर फिर भी आप जो भी फैसला करें, मैं उसे मानूँगा । 

Though I haven't done it, still what ever you go decide, I will accept.

 हॉलांकि मैं बिमार था, तब भी मैंने काम किया।

 Even though I was unwell, Nevertheless I worked 

Such > इस तरह का, ऐसा Such as → जैसे कि, उदाहरणत : For Example (e.g.) In such away-> इस तरह से ऐसे।

 Example: 

ऐसे लोग खार्थी होते हैं। 

Such people are selfish.

ऐसे बच्चे मुझे पसन्द नहीं। 

 I don't like such children. 

ऐसी कई कहानियाँ मैं सुन चुका हूँ।

 I have heard many such stories.

 मेरे पास कई चीजें हैं जैसे की चार कम्प्यूटर, दो लैपटाप तीन मोबाईल इत्यादि । 

I have many things such as four Computer two laptops there mobiles, etc. 

I have many things eg four Computers, two laptops, three mobiles ect.

 उसके साथ कई लोग हैं जैसे कि रवि, राहुल, संजय आदि। 

There are many people with him such as Ravi, Sanjay, Rahul etc.

 उसने इस तरह से मुझे छुरा कि मुझे लगा वो मुझसे लड़ने वाला है। 

He started at me in such a way that I thought he was going to fight me.

 तुम ऐसे बोलते हो कि हर कोई तुम्हारी बात सुनना पसन्द करता है। 

You speak in suchway that everyone loves to listen.

As if /as though ऐसे मानो, ऐसे जैसे कि 

Example : 

तुम तो हमें ऐसे बता रहे हो जैसे कि तुम्हें सब पता हो। 

You are telling as if you know everything.

 तुम तो ऐसे बात कर रहे हो जैसे मैं तुम्हारा दुश्मन हूँ। 

You are talking as if I am your enemy. 

तुम तो मुझे ऐसे डॉट रहे हो जैसे कि तुम मेरे बॉस हो ।

 You are scolding me as if you are my boss.

 वो मुझसे ऐसे व्यवहार कर रहे थे जैसे कि मैं अका नौकर हूँ। 

He was treating as if I was his servant. 

Either - or⇒ या तो ये - या तो वो 

Neither - Nor -> न ये-न वो

 या तो राम जायेगा या फिर में जाऊँगा Either Ram will go or I will. 

मैं न दिल्ली जाऊँगा न मुम्बई।

I will neither go to Delhi nor Mumbai.

So वो भी 

तुम आते हो। वो भी आता है

You Come. He comes too.

 You come. so does he

 मैंने तुमसे पूछा। उसने भी । 

I asked you. He asked too. 

I asked you. So did he 

वो मे कर पाया। मैं भी। 

He could do it. I could do it too. 

He could do it so could I.. 

तुम नहीं आते, वो भी नहीं आता। 

You don't come, he doesn't come either.

 You don't come, Neither does he .

Nor भी use कर सकते हैं।

 वो नहीं जा पाया। न मैं जा पाया। He 

couldn't go. I couldn't go either. 

He couldn't go. Neither Could I. 

Nor भी use कर सकते हैं। 

मैने नही  पूछा उसने भी नही।

 I didn't ask. He didn't ask either. 

I didn't ask Nor he.

Not only - - . but also न केवल ये बल्कि वो भी

वो केवल मैनेजर है बल्कि मेरा दोस्त भी है।  Not only the manager but also my friend.

 Lest... - should→ कहीं ऐसा न हो कि, ये न हो कि 

वहाँ मत जाओ ये न हो कि वो तुम्हे डाँटे। 

Don't go there lest he should scold you. 

सही पता लिखो ऐसा न हो कि करियर कहीं और चला जाये 

Write the correct address lest the courier should go samewhere else. 

मैं मेहनत करूँगा कहीं ऐसा न हो कि फेल हो जाऊँ।

 I will work hard lest I should fail. 

Otherwise / or else 

- नहीं तो / वरना 

मुझे मेहनत करनी पड़ेगी वरना मैं फेल हो जाऊँगा। 

I will have to work hard otherwise I will fail.

 So that /So as - ताकि 

 मैं मेहनत करूँगा ताकि मैं इग्जाम में पास हो सकूँ । 

I'll workhard so that I could pass the exam. 

I'll work hard so as to be able to pass the exam. |

 सही पता लिखो ताकि करियर कहीं और न चला जाए। 

write the correct address so that the courier doesit go anywhere else. 

Write the comment address so as to let the courier not go anywhere else 

Provided / But only when (But only if ⇒ बसरतेशर्त ये है कि, पर तब जब 

Rule: 

The clause with "Provided" must be in the present Indefinite Tense even if the flower clause appears to be in the future

Examples:

मैं तुमसे मिलूंगा, बशर्ते तुम मुझे वादा करो कि तुम मुझे रवि के बारे में नहीं पूछोगे !

 I'll meet you, provided Lask me about Ravi, you promise me that. 

you will not I'll meet you, but only when you promise me that you will not ask me about Ravi.

 I will meet you, but only if you promise me that you will not ask me about Ravi. 

वो आयेगा, पर शर्त ये है कि अमित नहीं आयेगा। 

He will Come, provided Amit doesn't come

 मैं किताब वापस कर दूँगा पर तब जब आप मुझ पर पैनल्टी न लगाओ।

 I'll return the book-provided you don't impose penalty on me. 

That's what यही तो, वही तो, यही बात तो, वही बात तो ।

 (किसी मुद्दे/ निर्जीव की बात हो रही है।) 

(Talking abaut an issue or a non-living) 

यही बात तो मैं कह रहा था। 

that's what I was Saying | 

यही तो मेरे पास ' नहीं है। 

That's what I don't have. 

वही बात तो मुझे कन्फ्यूज कर रही है। That's what is confusing me. 

यही तो तुम उसे समझा रहे थे।

 that's what you were making him understand

यही तो मैं ढूँढ रहा था । 

that's what I was looking for. 

यही किताब तो मैं ढूँढ रहा था।

 that's the book I was looking for. 

वही तो मैंने वहाँ देखा । 

That is what I saw there. 

वही पैन तो मैंने वहाँ देखा। 

That's the pen I saw there. 

That is whom > यही तो, वही तो, इसी को, उसी को

 किसी साजीव की बात हो रही है। (Talking abaut a living being) 

मैने उसी को डाँटा था । यही तो मैंने वहाँ देखा। 

That's whom I had scolded That's whom I saw there.

 That's where ) यहीं तो, वहीं तो, इसी जगह तो, उसी जगह तो। 

मैं वहीं तो जा रहा हूँ। 

That is where I am going.

हम यहीं तो मिले थे उस दिन  

That's where we had met thatday 

That's why - इसीलिये, तभी तो । 

तभी तो मैं तुम्हें बता रहा हूँ।

 That's why I'm informing your. 

वो घर पर था इसीलिये मैने काल किया। 

He was at home that is why I called.

 That's how -> इसी तरह तो, इसी तरह से।

 मैने ऐसे ही तो क्रिकेट खेलना सीखा। That's how I learned to play cricket.

उसी समय मैंने भी नौकरी ज्वाइन की। 

That's when I also gained the job.

 उसी साल मैंने भी नौकरी ज्वाइन की।

 That's the year I also gained the job.  

जब पापा आये, तभी मेरा दोस्त भी पहुँच गया।

that is when my friend reached too. when papa came.

While + verb + ing - 

 मैं चलते हुये पढ़ रहा हूँ।

 I am studying while walking.

 हम खेलते हुये लड़ रहे थे।

 we were a fighting while playing 

Whereas/while - जबकि 

मेरे पास 10 रुपये हैं जबकि तुम्हारे पास 501

 I have Rs 10 whoeras you have 501.

have Rs 10 while you have 501.

 Still /Even now → अभी भी

 मैं अभी भी पढ़ रहा हूँ। क्या तुम्हारा भाई अभी भी खेलता है

 I am still studying Does your brother still play?

 I am studying even now. Does your brother play even. 

Even now, I am studying. 

वो आज भी मुझसे मिलता है ? 

Now He still meets me. 

He meets me even now Even now, 

Rule ⇒ 

Still" is used after the helping verb and just before the main" verb, 

whereas Even now" is used either at the beginning or at the I end of the Sentence 

Eeven now" is generally, used express surprise or emphasis

whether.... or - चाहे

चाहे वो आये या न आये, मैं तो जाऊँगा । 

whether he comes or not, I will go. 

चाहे उसने किया या किसी और ने किया, कुल मिलाकर काम हो गया।

 whether he did it or someone else did it, ultimate the work is done.

 whether ___ or

 वो नहीं जानता कि लोग आयेंगे भी या नहीं।  

He didn't know whether people would come or not. 

मैं कह नहीं सकता कि वो खेलेगा या नहीं।

 I can't say whether he will play or not. 

Hardly ...when / No sooner had ~ than -

 मैं पहुंचा ही थी की वो दोनों आ गये। 

I had hardly reached when they both came.

 No sooner had I reached than they both came.

As soon as I reached, they both came.

The moment I reached, they both came. 

हम स्टेशन पहुँचे थे कि ट्रेन चल दी।

 we had hardly reached the station when the train left.

 No sooner had" we reached the station than the train left." 

As soon as we reached the station, the train left. 

The moment we reached the station, the train lift.

As yet / Yet- Till now / By now only for Sentence (-) 

 मैंने अभी तक उसे नहीं देखा है। उसने अबतक होमवर्क पूरा नही की

 I have not seen him yet. 

He hasn't finished the home work yet I have not seen him as yet. 

He hasn't finished the Hw adjet I have not seen him till now. 

He hasn't finished the Hw Hill I have not seen him so far. 

He hasn't finished the HW so far. 

 अब तक का स्कोर क्या है? 

what's the score so far? 

अभी तक आपके पास क्या - क्या है। 

I have not seen him by now. 

He hasn't finished the HW by now 

what all do you have so far? 

 what all do you have by now? 

what's the fill now?

 what all do score you have till now?

" Untill /unless - with date & Time Till the time

जबतक मैं नहीं आता, उसे कॉल मत करना।... 

Until I Come, don't call him. 

Unless I Come don't call him. 

Till I don't, come, don't call him 

Rule⇒ 

जबतक वाला clause भले ही ● Future tense में हो पर फिर भी Present Indefinite Tense अनुसार ही बनाया जाता है। 

Till the time I don't come, don't call him, 

जब तक उसने नहीं पूछा हम चुप रहें। 

until he asked, we kept quit. 

unless he asked, kept quiet. 

We Till he didn't as we kept quiet. 

Till the time he didn't ask, we kept quiet. 

हम नहीं खायेंगे जब तक वो नहीं आयेगा। 

We will not eat until he comes. 

We will not eat unless he comes. 

We will not eat till he doesn't come. 

We will not eat till the time he doesn't Come.

By the time the time - जब तक

 As long / while / Till the time  जब तक - 

जब तक वो आया, मैं जा चुका था 

(उल्टी बात हो गयी) तो By the time 

By the time he came I had left. 

जब तक आप अंग्रेजी सीखोगे, दुनिया फ्रेंच सीख रही होगी। 

By the time you learn English, the world will be learning French. 

जब तक आप अंग्रेजी सीखोगे, मैं डांस सीखूंगा 

 As long as you learn English, I'll learn dance 

while you learn' English, I'll learn dance. 

जब तक तुम यहाँ हो, मैं भी रुकूँगा। 

As long as you're here, I'll also stay. while you're here, I'll also stay. 

जब तक तुम मेरे साथ हो, मैं लड़ता रहूँगा। 

 As long as you are with me I'll keep fighting. 

while you are with me. I'll keep fighting.
